With limited space and resources, the islands of the Caribbean expressed a clear need for clean and efficient technologies as well as holistic solutions to broader environmental challenges. And with poverty rates over 40% on some island nations, and economies heavily reliant on a few sectors, the opportunities to co-develop affordable and replicable systems were numerous.
